An embryo is formed by combining the egg and sperm (fertilization) in the laboratory environment. Embryos developed by monitoring for 5 days in the laboratory are called "blastocysts".
Previously obtained embryos were transferred on the 3rd day. With the increase in the laboratory environment and technological equipment, it is possible for embryos to arrive up to the 5th day. The blastocysts on the 5th day contain about 100-120 cells. Embryos arriving on the 5th day are genetically healthier and have a higher chance of implanting in the mother's womb. Even if the laboratory equipment is sufficient, not every embryo can be advanced in the laboratory environment until the 5th day. Let's not forget that no laboratory environment is exactly the same as the mother's natural environment. In this case, the embryo is transferred on the 3rd day.
